Working location:Lot B1, Northwest Cu Chi IP, Cu Chi District, HCMC (shuttle bus available at Tan Binh IP, Binh Phuoc Intersection)
1. Key responsibilities
1.1. EHS system and Legal compliance
· Support the EHS Manager in developing, implementing, updating, and monitoring EHS policies, procedures, and guidelines across the factory.
· Maintain and continuously improve the management systems in accordance with ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 45001:2018, including system documentation, risk assessments, environmental aspect assessments, operational controls, internal audits, corrective/preventive actions, and continual improvement.
· Monitor compliance with Vietnamese legal requirements related to occupational safety, environment, chemicals, fire prevention and fighting, and waste management; coordinate with local authorities when required.
· Assist in preparing records, data, and compliance evidence for inspections, audits, and assessments by customers and external authorities.
1.2. SMETA / Customer audit support
· Coordinate and maintain readiness for SMETA/SEDEX audits and other social compliance assessments related to health, safety, environment, and working conditions.
· Track and follow up with relevant departments on corrective action plans after audits, ensuring all non-conformities are closed out on time.
1.3. Site safety and production risk control
· Conduct routine safety inspections in production areas, warehouses, utility areas, offices, and contractor work areas; identify risks, unsafe acts/conditions, and follow up on corrective actions.
· Control EHS risks specific to the plastics industry, including machine safety, injection/extrusion/blow molding areas, plastic resin/raw materials, additives, grinding areas, packing areas, and raw material/finished goods warehouses.
· Monitor compliance with safety requirements related to machine operation, guarding, signage, PPE, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), high-risk work, and relevant safe work procedures.
1.4. Fire safety and emergency response
· Plan and organize routine inspections of fire protection systems and equipment, emergency exits, fire alarm systems, firefighting equipment, exit lights, hydrants, extinguishers, and emergency response equipment.
· Coordinate the development, update, and implementation of emergency response plans for scenarios such as fire/explosion, chemical spills, occupational accidents, first aid cases, and environmental incidents.
· Organize periodic fire drills, evacuation drills, and emergency response exercises; coordinate with the Fire Prevention and Fighting Police during inspections or training activities.
1.5. Chemical safety and environmental management
· Control chemical management at the factory, including storage, segregation, labeling, SDS/MSDS availability, chemical compatibility, spill prevention, and emergency response equipment.
· Monitor environmental compliance activities, including general waste and hazardous waste management, waste segregation, storage and disposal, industrial housekeeping, and compliance with environmental rules.
· Support environmental monitoring activities, environmental documentation, periodic reporting, and other factory compliance obligations.
· Pay special attention to environmental risks in the plastics industry such as plastic pellet/raw material loss, plastic waste, dust, odor, noise, heat, and fire risks from flammable raw materials/finished goods.
1.6. Incident investigation and continuous improvement
· Conduct investigations of occupational accidents, incidents, near misses, and unsafe acts/conditions; identify root causes and propose corrective and preventive actions.
· Monitor the effectiveness of improvement measures to minimize risks, prevent recurrence, and enhance the overall effectiveness of the EHS system.
1.7. Contractor management and safety training
· Control contractor compliance with EHS requirements, including qualification documents, permits, safety training, PPE, work methods, and on-site supervision during factory activities.
· Organize and/or support safety training for employees and contractors, including induction training, fire safety, PPE usage, chemical safety, machine safety, emergency response, 5S, and safety awareness programs.
· Maintain complete and compliant training records, ensuring readiness for inspections and audits.
1.8. EHS reporting and program management
· Prepare periodic EHS reports on a weekly, monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, and annual basis for internal management and authorities as required.
· Support monitoring of the approved EHS budget at the factory, including costs related to PPE, training, inspections/certifications, fire protection, environmental monitoring, and improvement programs.
· Coordinate the implementation of safety culture programs such as Safety Week, Safety Month, Earth Day, Fire Drills, 5S Campaigns, and other site improvement activities.
· Perform other duties as assigned by the EHS Manager.
Bachelor’s degree or college diploma in Environment, Occupational Safety, Engineering, Chemistry, or related fields.
At least 2 years of experience in EHS/HSE in a manufacturing environment; experience in the plastics industry or industrial factories is preferred.
Good knowledge and hands-on experience in implementing and/or maintaining ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 systems.
Knowledge of or experience supporting SMETA/SEDEX audits is a strong advantage.
Solid understanding of legal requirements related to occupational safety, environment, chemicals, waste management, and fire prevention and fighting.
Experience in:
o Site inspection and risk assessment;
o Machine safety and chemical safety;
o Incident/accident investigation;
o Safety training;
o Contractor management;
o Reporting and corrective action follow-up.
· Good communication skills, cross-functional coordination skills, and the ability to work with government authorities.
· Able to work independently, proactively, carefully, and under pressure.
· Proficient in MS Office; good English communication and ability to read professional/technical documents.
